Pip and Pap Parent Workshop

Parents and children in Year 2 today read the book "The Sky Dive" as part of their "Pip and Pap Parent and Pupil Phonics" workshop today!

This story focuses on recapping alternative pronunciations for:

/oa/ spelt 'ow' as in window

/ee/ spelt 'ie' as in alien

/e/ spelt 'ea' as in head

/oo/ spelt 'ou' as in group

/igh/ spelt 'y' as in sky

/i/ spelt 'y' as in crystal

/sh/ spelt 'ch' as in parachute

/k/ spelt 'ch' as in school

/ee/ spelt 'y' as in funny

/s/ spelt 'c' as in central

/j/ spelt 'g' as in danger

/ai/ spelt 'ey' as in grey

In the story, Hem sky dives to raise money for a local charity! Pupils and parents read the story together, before completing verbal comprehension questions about the book. Then, they completed an oracy activity, talking about fundraising and raising money for the local community and causes close to their hearts, before creating their own 'parachute' together!

It has been wonderful to see so many parents attending our workshops - all are welcome, please do ask your child's class teacher for more details!
