The Great Gardening Day

We had great fun gardening on our school grounds today, linking to the National "Great Big Green Week" that starts on Monday!

Children had a great day mulching, weeding, planting, watering, cultivating and composting! A very big thank you to parents that joined us for our Great Gardening Day today too - helping move wheelbarrows of mulch and soil, weeding, planting flowers on the boat, sweeping and tidying - we very much appreciated your help and support!

We also scattered the wildflower seeds that we were gifted from the King and DfE for the Coronation. Mrs Rothwell held minibeast workshops, supporting the children to identify minibeasts in the bug hotels that Gardening Club had created.

Our grounds are looking absolutely superb - thank you so much to everyone that helped - we are so lucky to be part of such a fabulous community!

Each class has been awarded a certificate from 'Save our Wild Isles' (signed by David Attenborough, no less!) for their work for "Schools for Nature" in taking care of our school grounds and promoting biodiversity. Well done!
