OLSJ Year 2 Parent and Child Workshop

Here's a little snippet of Year 2 reading the Pip and Pap Phonics book "Abracadabra" as part of our weekly parent and child workshops!

In this story, Loom shows off some magic tricks!

Parents and pupils read the story together, talking about the alternative pronunciations for graphemes we have already met in the story, such as the letter 'g' making a /j/ sound in the word 'magic', and the letters 'ch' making a /k/ sound in the word 'chemical'. They also completed some verbal comprehension questions, to check their understanding of the story! Children and parents then worked together on an art activity to create their own 'magic trick', to make a rabbit come out of a hat!

We love welcoming parents to school each week for our Parent and Child workshops - please ask at the office for more details, if you'd like to come along.
