Years R,1, and 2 Eco blog

Year R

Year R has been thinking about the different fruits and vegetables we like to eat. We would like to grow fruits such as strawberries and tomatoes this year. There are some new vegetables that we haven't tried before that we would like to taste and grow. These are: asparagus, courgette and pumpkins! We are looking forward to trying something new! Did you know that when we have the choice of what to try we have a greater success at tasting and liking them! We are looking forward to seeing how these grow and then experimenting with using them to cook!

Year 1

As a class we considered the different fruit, vegetables and flowers we would like to explore this year. Then as a group we voted for our favourites. We decided that we would love to try to grow strawberries, carrots, poppies and we are curious about how dandelions spread their seeds and germinate. Why do we find lots of them around and when do they grow? We then worked in groups, where we began to think about how we might use our planter this year.

Year 2

Year 2 thought about the different fruit, vegetables or flowers we could plant in our bed and then voted for the ones we would plant. We made a plan for the bed. Our favourite and most exciting ideas were the thought of delicious raspberries and strawberries to have as our snack or in our puddings in the kitchen! We love how beautiful poppies are and the significance they hold for us in November. Watch this space for more ideas and planting from Year 2!
