Pip and Pap Phonics Workshop

Year 2 parents and pupils have had a blast in today's Pip and Pap Phonics workshop, reading the Purple Phase story "The Youth Group" together, where Pip, Pap and friends go ten-pin bowling!

This story focuses on recapping alternative pronunciations for:

/oa/ spelt 'ow' as in bowling

/ee/ spelt 'ie' as in alien

/e/ spelt 'ea' as in bread

/oo/ spelt 'ou' as in group

/igh/ spelt 'y' as in sky

/i/ spelt 'y' as in crystal

/ee/ spelt 'y' as in funny

/s/ spelt 'c' as in central

/j/ spelt 'g' as in danger

/ai/ spelt 'ey' as in grey

After reading the story, parents and pupils created their own bowling game! They used water bottles to act as skittles, which were repurposed, decorated and used as part of our game! Children were able to take their bottles home to share the game with their family.

Please make sure your bottles are recycled once you have finished with them! We hope you enjoy playing ten-pin bowling at home!
