Gardening club blog

Gardening club enjoyed an INCREDIBLE first term. The weather hasn’t stopped us from enjoying being outside and exploring our wonderful grounds either! Some notable accomplishments so far this year have been: harvesting our remaining vegetables (including courgettes, pumpkins, various squashes, leeks, runner beans, sunflower seeds, apples and sloe berries) and donating lots of them to the local food bank, digging up the Jerusalem artichokes and experimenting with different recipes at home (soup, mash, roasted), weeding all the beds, collecting leaves and starting our own leaf mould pile and litter picking the grounds. To finish off 2023, and in celebration of Christmas, we designed and made our own Christmas decorations using natural resources - we demonstrated great skill and safety when using tools and various other resources to create some dazzling finished results.

We have also had a busy few weeks since returning to school after Christmas. Gardening Club have enjoyed Composting, testing our soil from various sample sites across our outdoor environment, weeding out some of the beds, litter picking the grounds and participating in the RSPB’s Big Birdwatch. Here are some photos to showcase some of what we have been up to - enjoy!
