Keep Our Sea Plastic Free!. Jul 2022.

As part of our work towards an Eco Green Flag accreditation, we have created an absolutely fabulous display in the school hall, as part of our learning about the preservation of marine life.

Did you know that 14 million tons of plastic ends up in the ocean every year? Plastic makes up 80% of all marine debris, which has devastating consequences on sea creatures in our oceans.

All children created a design for our Eco Board, but we could not choose just one winner! The very talented Miss Walker combined many of the children's drawings to design the finished display. Children helped to affix the bottle tops, pen lids and tissue paper to the board, whilst Year R recorded a verse from Giles Andreae's "Commotion in the Ocean" to help bring each character to life. If you scan the QR codes next to the display, you can hear a wonderful poem about each sea creature!

Thank you to all parents, children, staff and parishioners who donated bottle tops to this project! We have plenty of bottle tops left which we will be saving for another art piece- watch this space!
