We held our "Fiver Challenge" (enterprise challenge) on the 24th May at OLSJ as part of our Summer Fete!

Pupils created their own stalls to celebrate the Coronation - with a coronation themed game and an 'eco' themed product to sell, to celebrate the King's love of ecology!

There was some fabulous enterprising work on the go - students created their own posters to promote their products, considered their pricing strategies, thought about how best to advertise their stalls and maximise sales. They successfully handled money and gave change, and added up their profits from the initial £5 they were given to see how much they had raised for their chosen charity.

Proceeds from our non uniform day (where we wore red, white and blue!) also went towards each class's chosen charity.

Year R raised £46.00 for the British Heart Foundation

Year R had a lovely stall, selling posies that they had collected on the school grounds, as well as selling rhubarb that they had grown themselves! Their coronation stall was the "guess the number of sweets in King Charles' jar!"

Year 1 raised £70.75 for the Dogs Trust

Year 1 had a 'throw the crown' competition - where the crown had to land on different monarchs heads! They also sold beautiful hand pressed flower cards that they had made with flowers from the school gardens, as well as selling flower crowns too!

Year 2 raised £56.84 for the RNLI

They had a "hook the royal duck" competition, which proved to be great fun, as well as selling "seed bombs" that they had created!

Year 3 raised £66.25 for Honey Pots

Year 3 had a lovely 'Lucky Dip' game, to find 'The King's Treasure!' as well as selling beautiful 'magic seed' paper, decorated with love and filled full of good wishes, to plant in the garden!

Year 4 raised £105.00 for the Lymington Cat and Kitten Rescue

They had a 'Soak the King' stall (thank you Mr Riste Smith for your participation, you were a very good sport!) and sold tins that they had repurposed and decorated as plant pots.

Year 5 raised £270.75 for Cancer Research UK

Year 5 hired a bouncy castle - (the King's Castle!) and sold plants that they had grown on the school grounds, including tomato plants which were very popular!

Year 6 raised £187.75 for Oakhaven Hospice

They created a fabulous slingshot game featuring King Charles (thank you to Mr Nuding who helped with the crafting at home!) and sold beautiful "fairy doors" that they had created at school. They were so popular that they completely sold out!
