Partnership Reading Championships

Pupils across our partnership in Year 5 and 6 took part in the "Inter-school Partnership Reading Championships" today!

Children selected from each school that have shown a love for reading and thirst for books, were selected by their teachers to partake in the inter-school quiz. This serves as a 'warm up' for the National Reading Championships, led by the National Literacy Trust, in March. Teams will partake in the online South East Regional event before hopefully progressing to the finals in London.

Mr Peters at Mansel Park was today's quizmaster and it was quite a show!
Pupils across the schools battled across a number of challenges, including anagrams, quick fire buzzer rounds, whiteboard work and tie-breakers to find a winning school! They showed off their knowledge of books, characters, authors and illustrators and all worked well together in their individual teams, in this quiz that required both skill and luck!

A winner was finally found - with Bitterne Park 'A' Team finishing in 1st place, and their 'B' team in second place - meaning a very secure victory for Bitterne Park. They are the winners of the first 'Partnership Reading Championships', with the hope this will become an annual event. Thank you to Mansel Park Primary & Nursery School for hosting the quiz!
