Jean Genie by the Sea
Transition Lymington (part of the global Transition Towns Network) came to visit Year 5/6 at Our Lady & St Joseph on 18th October, to deliver the 'Jean Genie by the Sea' project.
Sarah and her team worked with the children to upcycle old jeans found in charity shops that cannot be sold. Transition Lymington take the 'good parts' of donated jeans to make new products. Year 5/6 made some fantastic bags using sewing machines to join together materials and denim.
As part of the project, the children created their own presentations about sea creatures that are impacted by plastic pollution, carrying out their own research using ICT and books that Transition Lymington had brought with them from local libraries.
