The governing body is made up of volunteers from different groups (parents, staff, community and local authority) who are elected to join the governing body. The role of the governing body is to support the leadership team by determining; monitoring and keeping under review the broad policies, plans and procedures within which the school operates.
Please see the attached structure and remit of the governing body and any committees and the full names of the chair of each committee, the register of interests for governors including: governance roles in other educational institutions; any material interests arising from relationships between governors or relationships between governors and school staff and their attendance at governing body and committee meetings over the last academic year.
The main role of the governors is to help the school set high standards by planning for the school's future and setting targets for school improvement. The governors also maintain the pressure on school improvement and keep the school under review whilst being a critical friend, offering support and advice. The parent and foundation governors also help the school respond to the needs of parents and the community.
The Governing Body appoints committees to deal in more detail with various different aspects of the school. There are three main sub committees and each governor sits on at least one of them.
