Lights Camera Code workshops have been created by two primary school teachers. In our after school coding workshops the children will use a variety of web-based coding platforms and coding hardware such as the BBC Micro:bit to not only learn to code, but to code with a purpose. The children will practice their coding skills before solving an everyday problem faced by society by using a BBC Micro:bit, a battery pack and a little imagination.

What will your child do?

– research issues facing certain members of society and discuss ways to solve them
– design a doorbell for the hearing impaired using two Micro:bits to send and receive signals
– make their doorbells creative and fun using traditional arts and crafts materials
– write a coding script and test it and debug it where necessary.

We also like to promote touch typing and mouse control skills to help children become more efficient coders.

We use lots of web based resources which get the children practising these skills in a fun and engaging way.

Whilst you're there, sign up to our free monthly newsletter which gives you tips and advice on how to stay safe online as well as advice on how to get your kids into coding.
