The children worked so hard throughout our Reduce, Reuse and Recycle topic! They learnt so much about the impact of plastics on our planet and discussed our collective responsibility to do something about it.
Here are a couple of the great letters that they wrote to their families hoping to persuade them to act a bit differently!

Film night and a visit from Santa.
'Born in a Barn' was our nativity this year. What super actresses and actors everyone was/.
Lower schools annual trip to Forest Arts center for the Pantomime. This year it was Rumpelstiltskin. A brilliant time was had by all.

Year 1 have been looking at numbers from 11 to 20. we are recognising that 14 is 10 and four more. We have been using 10 frames, numicon and bundles of straws.
year 2 have been investigating the suitability of a variety of everyday materials, This week we investigated which paper towel is the best for soaking up water.
Year 1 have been learning about addition/subtraction fact families.
Fact families is a group of math facts using the same numbers. In the case of addition/subtraction, you use three numbers and get four facts.
For example, you can form a fact family using the three numbers 10, 2, and 12:
10 + 2 = 12, 2 + 10 = 12, 12 − 10 = 2, and 12 − 2 = 10.
try some of these at home,
Year 2 Science . We have been carrying out experiments with different materials to find out how the shape and properties of solid objects made from some materials can be changed by squashing, bending, twisting and stretching.
Maths, maths everywhere!
Class 2 LOVES books!
Welcome back after a lovely Summer! The children have all settled in really well and have already turned our our classroom into the Land of Dinosaurs with a cave, volcano, trees and footprints. Four large dinosaurs have appeared so enter Class 2 if you dare!
This half term our topic will focus on Dinosaurs, fossils and the work of Mary Anning. The children will be designing their own dinosaurs and creating Deadly 60 style video reports - more information about our film show to follow!
In maths we will be exploring place value using lots of practical resources and looking for patterns.
Homework - this year, we are asking parents to really focus on reading with their children as this is such an important skill. We will also be sending home maths games. There will not be a formal homework book this year. If children attend Homework Club, we will read and play maths games together.
PE days are Monday and Friday however, the timetable does sometimes change so we ask that PE kits are in school every day. REMEMBER - long hair must be tied back and earrings removed for PE. It is usually easier with the younger children if they DO NOT wear earrings to school on PE days. Trainers are needed everyday for the field and the Golden Mile.
PE - Please ensure that your child has their PE kit with them on every day.
Book bags should be brought into school everyday. Please remember to check their bag for letters, homework and tricky words.
Tricky Words/Spellings are given out to the children as they progress and tested during the following week. Please keep an eye out in book bags for the new words.
Reading - Please spend 15 minutes a day reading and fill in your child’s reading record to show how they are getting on.
